About this role
We are seeking a hard working and analytical Tax Manager to lead our compliance function. This role will work directly with the partners of the firm to oversee the preparation of tax returns. The ideal candidate is a critical thinker who can operate autonomously while managing a team to ensure accountability and knowledge up-skilling.
- Manage staff and review tax returns prepared by the team.
- Prepare and review complex individual and business returns (1120, 1120s, 1065, not for profit, 1041s)
- Assist staff with diagnosing issues in preparation in the software
- Provide mentorship, technical guidance, and oversight to junior team members
- Directly communicate with clients to obtain missing information and provide updates.
- Able to respond to notices received from tax authorities
- Versatile and organized in nature, can pick up or put down a number of tasks in a day depending on client and partner needs.
About you
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related field
- Deep knowledge of US Federal and state tax laws and regulations
- Experience with forms 1120, 1120s, 1065, 1040, 1041, and not for profit return
- preparation and review
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite of products
- Experience preparing returns in ProSeries is preferable.
- Ability manages a team and work independently with minimal supervision.
- Excellent communication, analytical, and critical thinking skills
